Tips on choosing the right jewellery
“Jewellery is like the perfect spice, it always complements what is already there.” ~ Diane Von Furstenberg
One of the most sentimental possessions is jewellery. Jewellery has been worn for centuries as a means to enhance appearance as well as to show one's status. Special jewellery holds memories, represents someone who is close to you or even symbolises a significant time in your life. In some communities, specific types of jewellery are passed on from generation to generation.
Most women love jewellery shopping. Most men do not. That is why it is important for men to identify the style of the recipient before buying any jewellery.
The shape and style of jewellery you choose can work towards enhancing your appearance.
Here are some tips on selecting jewellery that will complement your appearance
Necklace styles are a good way to change the people’s perception of your height. If you want to look taller, choose necklaces that are longer V-shaped or Y-shaped because they elongate your appearance. If you want to appear shorter, choose necklaces that rest on your collarbone. The chunkiness of a necklace is an important factor to consider. If you are petite, smaller jewellery will look good on you.
2. Rings and Bracelets
- A lot of times when you talk or when you are just sitting around your hands are up near your face so you want to choose your bracelets and rings so that they compliment your face as well as your hands. Also, you want to consider your signs and whether you are large boned or small boned when choosing bracelets. If you are petite, large chunky bracelets might look awkward on you so delicate thin bracelets might be the way to go. On the other hand, if you are large boned or even medium-sized you might look best with a wide bracelet or a stack of bracelets. When choosing rings, think about the shape of your fingers. For shorter fingers, rings with an oval setting tend to look best as you do not want to emphasize on the shortness of your fingers. If you have long fingers, round settings and wide bands will probably look best on you.
Depending on the shape of your face, round, rectangle, heart-shaped, oval or square earrings can work towards or against the shape. For round faces, long, square or rectangular shaped earrings will help elongate your face because you do not want to emphasise on its fullness. Heart-faced faces are enhanced by triangular shaped earrings or chandeliers which are wider at the bottom because they widen out your chin. If your face is long or rectangular shaped, wearing longer dangling earrings will tend to elongate your face, smaller stubs will match your face shape. When you are going on a job interview, stick to one earring in each ear, one necklace, one bracelet and one ring to avoid looking busy.
